Paul Helmich is an independent financial economist specialising in the macro-financial risks of digital currencies, their regulatory architecture and their potential socio-economic impacts.

He holds an MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency from the University of Nicosia, where he studied the intersection of digital money, monetary policy and regulatory frameworks.

His recent work examines the systemic implications of stablecoins and their relationship with monetary policy. This is part of his broader interest in reform in the global financial system.

For the past 28 years he has combined his interest in economics with a career in cybersecurity and risk management consulting, along with corporate leadership roles and supervisory board roles.
